Description: Insider threats range from unintentional acts that cause damage to deliberately hostile acts such as workplace violence. Threat assessment investigations involving insiders are complex because, by definition, insiders have access, knowledge, and training not available to others. This presentation highlights lessons learned through the Department of Defense's long history of challenges with insider threat management and provides recommendations for assessing and managing persons of concern who are organizational insiders, supported by empirical research and demonstrated through compelling case study examples.
