Getting Started Seminar for New Facility Security Officers (FSOs) IS121.01

Held at the NCMS Annual Training Seminar, Atlanta, GA

Description:  This course allows new FSOs and security personnel the opportunity to learn and apply fundamental National Industrial Security Program (NISP) requirements in a collaborative environment. It also serves as a refresher on industrial security basics for experienced FSOs. Areas of focus include the DD 254, insider threat, reporting requirements, counterintelligence, security and contractor reviews, security training and briefings, and personnel security.

Learning Objectives: Students will demonstrate comprehension of NISP requirements for FSOs.

Delivery Method: Instructor-led Training

Length: 1 days, 9 hours

Target Audience: The target audience is Facility Security Officers at cleared DOD contractor facilities participating in the NISP. Secondary audiences include other contractor security personnel, DOD Industrial Security Specialists, and others working in the security environment such as Human Resources, Administrative Assistants, Program Managers, and Military Members exiting the various services.

  • Full-time attendance and participation in all lessons. Please note that you must receive CDSE email confirmation of course registration. At the time of class check in, you will be required to provide a photo ID and proof of the registration email from CDSE. Please note that absolutely no walk ins will be allowed. To be eligible to attend the GSS you must be registered for the NCMS Annual Training Seminar and submit an attestation.
  • Exam Requirements: N/A

Prerequisites: Successful completion of the following courses:

  • Introduction to Industrial Security (IS011.16) and exam
  • Preparing the DD Form 254 (IS128.16) and exam
  • Insider Threat Awareness Course (INT101.16) and exam
  • Counterintelligence Awareness and Security Brief (CI112.16) and exam

No. Registration for the NCMS Annual Training Seminar and the "Getting Started Seminar for New FSOs" are separate. You must register for both events individually.

The "Getting Started Seminar for New FSOs" is a formal training course, not a breakout session, workshop, or panel discussion. The key difference is that upon completion, you will receive a formal certificate of completion recorded in our learning management system, STEPP.
 
  • I am not registered for the NCMS Annual Training Seminar. Can I still attend the "Getting Started Seminar" on June 8th?
No. The June 8th, 2026, offering of this seminar is available exclusively to attendees of the NCMS Annual Training Seminar
 
  • Can I walk in on June 8th to observe the “Getting Started Seminar” if I am not registered?
No. The June 8th, 2026, offering of this seminar is only available if you complete the prerequisite requirements and register for the NCMS offering of the “Getting Started Seminar”. Registration is open from March 9th – May 15th, 2026. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email from CDSE.
 
  • How much does the Getting Started Seminar” Cost?
The “Getting Started Seminar” is free! The NCMS offering of the seminar does fill up quickly so ensure you register by the cut off date of May 15th, 2026.
 
  • What do I need to bring with me on June 8th to enter the class?
