Personnel Vetting Management PS126.10

Description: This virtual instructor-led course equips security practitioners with the necessary tools and processes to conduct end-to-end personnel vetting management of those individuals' requiring eligibility for access to classified information or eligibility to hold a sensitive position in the Department of War (DOW). It covers the requirements associated with the reform of the Federal Government’s personnel vetting system known as Trusted Workforce 2.0. It will provide an overview of the Federal personnel vetting program, background investigations, adjudications, continuous vetting, insider threat, and security review proceedings.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Apply foundational personnel vetting concepts and principles, including access requirements and standards.
  • Support the execution of the Federal personnel vetting investigative process.
  • Support the execution of trust determinations for initial vetting, continuous vetting, security review proceedings, upgrades, transfer of trust, and re-establishment of trust.
  • Illustrate how elements of the personnel vetting program contribute to effective risk management of DOW assets, including people, property, information, and mission.

Delivery Method: Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT)

Length: 5 days

Target Audience: DOW security practitioners commonly referred to as security managers, security specialists, special security officers, military personnel, and other Federal personnel performing personnel vetting security management for the DOW national security population. This course is not intended as an introductory course. Learners should have a fundamental level of knowledge from work experience and/or prerequisites.

Requirements:

  • Clearance Requirements: There are no clearance requirements. This course is designated CUI. Learners must be a DOW or other Federal Government (military or civilian) employee and must have a .gov or .mil email address listed in their STEPP profile to be approved for this course.
  • Attendance Requirements: Full-time attendance and participation in all sessions and interactions.
  • Exam Requirements: Learners must earn an 80% grade average on course exams and performance exercises.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of the following courses and exams:

  • PS128.16, Introduction to Federal Personnel Vetting Policy for Security Practitioners
  • PS113.16, Introduction to National Security for Security Practitioners
  • INT 101.16, Insider Threat Awareness
