Learning Objectives: This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of security policies and principles and their responsibilities to ensure the proper protection of classified and controlled unclassified information and DOD assets.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Determine how the Personnel Security Program, or PSP, protects national security by establishing the vetting and investigative standards, criteria, and guidelines for personnel security eligibility or trust determinations.
- Recognize the security-related requirements for cleared contractor personnel in accordance with the 32 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 117, NISPOM.
- Determine the requirements for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) throughout its life cycle in accordance with DOD regulatory guidance.
- Determine the requirements for protecting classified national security information throughout its life cycle in accordance with DOD regulatory guidance.
- Explain the prepublication security and policy review process that protects national security information from public release.
- Explain the role of the Physical Security Program in protecting national security information and assets.
- Explain the role of Operations Security (OPSEC), in protecting DOD activities, critical information, operations, and assets.
- Determine the indicators and reporting requirements for insider threat.
- Identify the foreign travel reporting requirements.
