Description: This course fulfills the mandatory training requirements of 10 CFR Part 1045 and DOE policy for non-DOE employees to be designated as Restricted Data Derivative Classifiers. Learners will review key responsibilities, classification authorities, marking requirements, and procedures for handling and protecting RD and FRD. Topics include legal foundations, the use of classification guides, redaction standards, and classification by association. Agencies may require additional training before designating individuals as Restricted Data Derivative Classifier.

Learning Objectives:
- Understand how to apply the Atomic Energy Act and 10 CFR Part 1045 to the classification and protection of Restricted Data (RD), Formerly Restricted Data (FRD), and Transclassified Foreign Nuclear Information (TFNI).
- Distinguish between RD, FRD, TFNI, and National Security Information (NSI); apply the Precedence Rule; and understand the differences between initial and derivative classification.
- Identify the specific authorities, roles, and responsibilities of DOE, DOD, and derivative classifiers, along with the processes for downgrading, declassifying, and reviewing information for public release.
- Explore access and safeguarding requirements, restrictions on international exchange, procedures for classification challenges and reviews, and the consequences of misclassification or mishandling.
