Having trouble viewing/printing your course certificate? Please allow 48-72 hours for our system to update with your training completion. Once updated, you will be able to view and print a copy of your certificate. Please be aware that not all learning activities have certificates of completion.

To view and/or print an available certificate:

  1. Log in to your STEPP account.
  2. From the Learn menu, select Training Schedule.
  3. Select Completed Registrations or Completed Activities from the View drop-down menu.
  4. Select the activity name you wish to view.
  5. Select the certificate icon.
  6. Select Print.

Please ensure you closed the activity properly by selecting "Exit," "Close," "Log Out," or "X" inside the window. DO NOT use the RED BOX "X" in the upper-right hand corner of your screen. Exiting courses improperly will render your status "In-Progress."

For U.S. Army FDO courses, you will not receive credit for the activities you complete if you do not close out properly, as the exam will not return your score to our server.

How do I register for and complete a new curriculum in STEPP?

Most of the STEPP curricula require the completion of a Navigation document in order to enroll in the curriculum training. Training activities are modularized within the curriculum and are assigned accordingly.

  1. On the STEPP Homepage, scroll down to the Catalog section.
  2. From the Category Listings, select Curricula under the desired security interest.
  3. From the resulting list, select the Navigation document (.NAV) of the desired curriculum.
  4. Click the Start button to launch the document in a separate browser window.
  5. After reviewing/printing, close the document. You will then be prompted with the question "Have you completed the activity?" Select Yes to enroll in the curriculum, otherwise select No.
  6. Once enrolled, you will be assigned the activities in the first module of the curriculum. These activities will appear in your To-Do list once you log in (or you may click on the Learner icon at the top of the STEPP page to refresh and display the list).
  7. Included in the assigned activities will be a Completion document for the module (.M1). Launch the Completion document last (after the assigned activities) to initiate the next module assignments.
  8. Repeat until all modules of the curriculum have been completed. The curriculum diploma will then be awarded and can be accessed in your training transcript.

If you have exceeded the number of times allowed to take the exam for a particular course, or if you retook the course again but the system will not allow you to reregister for the exam, do not cancel any activities without consulting with the Registrar's office first. Canceling exam registrations will count as one exhausted attempt. If you receive a "Registration Blocked" message, please allow 48 hours to be re-registered for the exam prior to contacting the Registrar's office for assistance.

If you have problems logging in to your STEPP account (e.g., your account is disabled and needs to be reset), contact 1-888-282-7682 or call.center@dsshelp.org.

If you can't get past the STEPP login screen after entering in your username and password, that ususally means your cookies are not enabled. Cookies must be enabled to use STEPP.

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Setting.
  2. Set to medium or lower.

If you get a Perception Error, follow these instructions PDF icon.

If your screen says, "Access denied – unable to proceed due to improper call of perception," follow these instructions.

If you completed the prerequisite more than three years ago, then the activity has likely been updated and you are required to complete the prerequisite(s) again prior to contacting the Registrar's office. Learn more about prerequisites.

CDSE courses in STEPP are intended for use by the Department of Defense (DoD) and other U.S. Government personnel and contractors within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). There is no cost for any of the activities offered in STEPP. To register for a class from STEPP:

  1. From the STEPP Homepage, select a category then subcategory of interest.
  2. From the Category Listings, select the Register button.
  3. Select the appropriate activity, and select Submit.

To find your transcript in STEPP, go to the Learn menu, select Learning Activity Reports and select Training Transcript.

To pring your transcript in STEPP, follow the process above. Select a date range and select the Export to PDF button on the right side ofthe page. You may save this file to your system or print from PDF.

Your transcripts will show only a pass or fail for each course taken. To view a breakdown of your scores:

  1. Log in to your STEPP account.
  2. From the Learn menu, select Training Schedule.
  3. Select Completed Activities from the View drop-down menu.
